Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Abdülaziz, rendered in flowing Arabic script with characteristic elongated vertical strokes (elif) rising above the main body and a sweeping horizontal extension to the left. The intricate interlaced loops and foliated interior elements of the tughra are well-defined. Below the tughra, the regnal year notation appears in Arabic script. The entire design is contained within a finely milled border of uniform beading.
