Obverse description At center, a stylized winged lion passant in high relief, rendered in an ancient Near Eastern artistic style reminiscent of Persian-period Israelite iconography, occupies the majority of the field. The State of Israel coat of arms — a menorah flanked by olive branches above a ribbon — appears in the upper right of the field. Along the lower rim, the trilingual legend 'ISRAEL', 'ישראל', and 'إسرائيل' is inscribed in Latin, Hebrew, and Arabic scripts respectively.
