20 New Shekels National Library of Israel

Issued to mark the opening of the National Library of Israel's new building in Jerusalem, which finally occurred in 2022 after decades of planning, fundraising, and a site dispute that consumed much of the institution's institutional energy from the 1990s onward. The library holds the world's largest collection of Judaica and Hebrew manuscripts, including the Rothschild Miscellany and fragments from the Cairo Geniza.

Bank of Israel commemorative gold issues in this weight class are struck in very limited quantities and rarely see secondary market pressure — collector demand is largely domestic and institutional.
