Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a lively scene of the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, rendered in a detailed illustrative style with contrasting matte and mirror fields. To the left, market stalls laden with produce are attended by vendors and shoppers rendered as stylized silhouettes; in the background rises a stone tower with a crescent moon and sun above it, evoking the market's historic Jerusalem setting. To the right, a couple is seated at a cafe table beneath a Star of David. The denomination '20' appears prominently in large numerals at the upper right of the field, accompanied by the trilingual legends 'שקלים חדשים / NEW SHEKELS' and the date '2021 / התשפ״א'. The legends 'JERUSALEM / ירושלים / أورشليم' arc along the upper border, and '1 OZ. FINE GOLD .9999 / 1 אונקיה זהב טהור 9999' curves along the lower right periphery.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of the Bank of Israel's long-running Markets of Israel commemorative series, this coin honors the Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem — a covered bazaar that has operated continuously since the late Ottoman period and survived British Mandate curfews, wartime rationing, and multiple suicide bombings during the Second Intifada. The series was launched in 2009 and has progressively documented the distinct character of Israel's major open-air markets, each issue authorized under a dedicated government mint program rather than produced for general circulation.

The .9999 fine gold specification places it among Israel's highest-purity bullion commemoratives.
