| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait vignette of General Murtala R. Muhammed (1938–1976) in military uniform occupies the left-centre, with his name and dates inscribed below. The issuer title "CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA" and the CBN eagle emblem appear at upper centre, flanked to the right by a large numeral "20" in tricolour underprint. A fine guilloche rosette forms the central underprint behind the denomination legend "TWENTY NAIRA" in dark red, while the serial number, date, and two facsimile signatures of the Governor and Director of Currency Operations run along the lower margin. |
