Surmounting the central medallion at the top of the field is a circular yin-yang-style emblem. Flanking the central medallion on both sides is a wreath composed of leafy branches and blossoming flowers, tied at the base with a decorative ribbon bow. The whole design is contained within a beaded border. |

KM#Pn12 designates this piece as a pattern — not a circulation strike. The 1886 Korean coinage program was driven by Gojong's attempt to modernize the monetary system under significant pressure from both Japanese and Chinese interests competing for influence over the Joseon court. The Jeonhwan Bureau (Jeonsigukjo) had only recently been established, and early pattern issues from this period represent the experimental phase before standardized production was achieved.
Very few examples are known to survive.
