Monopoly's paper money has never been legal tender, but the 1935 set is the earliest standardized edition — Charles Darrow had sold the game rights to Parker Brothers that year, and the denomination structure established then persisted largely unchanged for decades. The printing has always been deliberately crude by banknote standards, a cost decision rather than an artistic one.
Not a numismatic item.
