Obverse description Central field bears the State Emblem of the Mongolian People's Republic (1960–1992), depicting a mounted horseman galloping leftward before radiating sunbeams, framed by a wreath of wheat ears tied at the base with a ribbon inscribed 'БНМАУ' in Cyrillic; the composition is surmounted by a five-pointed star. The date appears prominently in the lower field below the emblem. The surrounding legend in Cyrillic reads 'БҮГД НАЙРАМДАХ МОНГОЛ АРД УЛС' (Mongolian People's Republic), arranged along the left and right periphery of the coin.

Additional information

Issued under the Mongolian People's Republic during its most doctrinaire Soviet-aligned period, this series was produced with direct technical assistance from the USSR — Mongolian coinage of this era was struck using Soviet minting infrastructure and expertise. The tögrög system it belongs to had been introduced in 1925 to sever the country's monetary ties to Chinese currency, a politically charged break that still carried ideological weight decades later.
