Beschrijving voorzijde Central circle enclosing the Arabic inscription of the issuing authority, the Banque Centrale de Tunisie, together with the dual dates in both the Gregorian era (1960) and the Hijri calendar (1380). The central device is framed by a decorative geometric or floral motif in the surrounding annulus. The planchet exhibits a high-gloss, proof-like surface consistent with its uniface essai production. This piece forms part of a set of seven uniface trial strikes, with obverse and reverse struck separately on polished planchets.

Aanvullende informatie

Tunisia's 1960 coinage series was produced as the young republic worked to establish an independent monetary system following the abolition of the Tunisian franc and the introduction of the dinar in 1958. Essai uniface pieces — struck on one face only — were produced as trial submissions during the design approval process, allowing the issuing authority to evaluate obverse and reverse treatments independently before committing to a paired die combination.

The absence of the word "ESSAI" on this particular piece distinguishes it from the standard trial issues and suggests it originates from an earlier stage of the approval sequence, prior to the formal essai designation being added.
