Additional information

This is a pattern strike, never approved for circulation — Louis III had ascended the Bavarian throne only in November 1913, and the coinage infrastructure for his reign was still being established when war broke out in August 1914. Full-scale production of circulating gold coinage became a practical impossibility almost immediately, as Germany suspended gold convertibility within days of mobilization.

KM#Pn1 is the sole pattern reference for this type, suggesting extremely limited die work and no meaningful distribution beyond official channels.
