Additional information

Louis III became the last King of Bavaria in November 1913, and this 1914 pattern was almost certainly prepared in anticipation of a full regal gold coinage that never materialized. The outbreak of war in August 1914 suspended German domestic gold coin production for civilian purposes almost immediately, and Bavaria's gold reserves were absorbed into the imperial war economy.

As a pattern, KM# Pn10 exists in very small numbers — struck for approval, not circulation.
