Obverse description Right-facing bare bust of Heinrich XXII, Prince of Reuss-Greiz, rendered in fine sculptural relief with short hair and a full beard, consistent with the naturalistic portrait tradition of the German Imperial coinage series. The effigy is centrally positioned within the field, with the mint mark B appearing below the bust truncation. The circular legend HEINRICH XXII V.G.G.ÄLT.L.SOUV.FÜRST REUSS is distributed around the periphery in Latin lettering, enclosed within a beaded border.

Reverse description Small crowned Imperial German eagle with spread wings occupies the central field, the breast bearing the quartered shield of the German Empire with decorative oak-leaf mantling below. The denomination 20 MARK is inscribed at the lower field, flanked by stars, with the date 1875 positioned to the right of the eagle. The legend DEUTSCHES REICH runs along the upper rim, all within a beaded border, conforming to the standard reverse design of the German Empire gold coinage series.
