| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing bust of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a youthful, unadorned portrait befitting his coming-of-age commemoration. The circular legend runs along the inner border of a beaded rim, reading FRIEDRICH FRANZ IV V.G.G. GROSSH. V. MECKENB. SCHW., abbreviating his full title by the Grace of God, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The mint mark 'A' for the Berlin Mint appears at the base of the truncation. The field surrounding the effigy is smooth and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the design. |
