Reverse description The standard Imperial German eagle displayed with wings spread, facing left, surmounted by the Hohenzollern crown, with the breast shield bearing the Prussian eagle and heraldic ornamentation rendered in fine detail. Elaborate foliate and scroll cartouche work frames the lower portion of the design, above which the denomination '20 MARK' is inscribed in bold characters along the lower exergue. The circular legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH 1901' flanks the eagle, interrupted by a six-pointed star on either side, all contained within a beaded border. The overall composition is typical of the Wilhelmine-era Kaiserreich gold coinage standard reverse type.
