The denomination '20 Mark' appears in ornate red Fraktur script at each upper corner, beneath an arched banner reading 'STADT BURG / Bez. Magdeburg'. The lower cartouche, framed by elaborate scrollwork, bears the issue date 'Burg, den 1. Dezember 1918', the issuing authority 'Der Magistrat', and two facsimile signatures. |

The denomination '20 Mark' in bold red Fraktur numerals flanks the vignette on either side. Below, a three-line Fraktur text states the note's validity conditions, followed by a serial number in a decorative red rectangular panel, and the printer's imprint at the foot. |
