The centre is occupied by a large ornate guilloche underprint in ochre-gold, within which the denomination 'Zwanzig Mark' appears in bold Gothic blackletter script. The numerals '20' are set in each corner, and the heading 'Gutschein' is printed at the top in large display type above the validity clause. Below the central text, the date and issuing authority 'Der Rat der Stadt Leipzig' are inscribed in italic script, with two manuscript signatures appearing at the lower right. |

| Description du revers | Printed entirely in blue ink on a pale blue ground, the reverse is centred on an oval vignette enclosing the arms of the City of Leipzig — a shield surmounted by an elaborate foliate crest — framed by symmetrical guilloche ornamental panels extending to each side and the numerals '20' placed in all four corners. A cautionary text regarding loss of validity is printed in small type at the top, and a counterfeiting warning citing a minimum two-year custodial sentence appears at the foot. |
