| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is printed on white paper with a light blue guilloche border and ornamental frame enclosing the entire design. The heading reads 'Notgeld der Stadt Oldenburg.' in bold blackletter script across the top, with the denomination 'Zwanzig Mark' rendered in large Gothic typeface flanking an ornate central numeral '20' with scrollwork. The date 'Oldenburg, den 30. October 1918.' appears in the lower centre, below which three manuscript signatures are present under the designations 'Stadtmagistrat' and 'Mitglieder des Gesamtstadtrats', accompanied by an official red circular seal of the Stadtmagistrat Oldenburg at lower right. A red overprint in diagonal script reads 'Gültig bis 1. Februar 1919'. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is plain white and carries two blocks of text in blackletter (Fraktur) script. The upper paragraph, set in a larger typeface, states that the note is accepted by all public treasuries in the Duchy of Oldenburg and by Oldenburg banks including their branches, and that the claim lapses if the note is not presented for redemption by 1 February 1919 or by any extended deadline. A second, smaller-print paragraph below contains the statutory counterfeiting warning citing §§ 146 and 147 of the German Penal Code, prescribing a minimum of two years' imprisonment. |
