The 2007 issue of this denomination belongs to the third and final design series produced for Lithuania's restored litas, which had been reintroduced in 1993 after the collapse of the Soviet ruble zone. Giesecke & Devrient in Leipzig had printed Lithuanian banknotes across multiple series, a relationship that continued until Lithuania adopted the euro on 1 January 2015 — at which point the entire litas series was withdrawn and the Bank of Lithuania began a phased redemption program with no expiration date for exchange.
P#69 is the later, updated version of the 20 Litu denomination, distinguished from its predecessors primarily by revised security specifications rather than a redesigned face.
