| Reverse description | The upper portion of the Fascio Littorio dominates the reverse, closely related in design to the type used on KM#63, with an axe to the right adorned with a lion's head finial. The axe blade bears the famous Mussolini motto exhorting courage, rendered in full across the shaft. The bindings of the fasces display two dates in Roman numerals: the upper date commemorating the end of the First World War (MCMXVIII) and the lower recording the year of striking (MCMXXVIII), with the regnal year in the Fascist calendar (A. VI) also noted. To the left of the fasces, the denomination L. 20 and the mint mark R for the Rome Mint are clearly indicated. The word ITALIA and PROVA (trial/pattern) appear as part of the reverse legend, confirming the piece's status as a pattern strike. |
