| 背面描述 | A detailed three-quarter perspective architectural rendering of the Zagnos Pasha Mosque (Zagnos Paşa Camii) located in Balıkesir, Turkey, depicting the mosque's main dome, flanking semi-domes, arched windows, entrance portico with steps, and a single slender minaret rising at the right. The legend 'ZAGNOS PAŞA CAMİİ' arcs along the upper field, while 'BALIKESİR' is inscribed along the lower exergue. The design is executed in fine relief against a frosted background characteristic of proof coinage. |

The Zağanos Pasha Mosque in Balıkesir was built in the mid-fifteenth century by Zağanos Pasha, a Albanian-born Ottoman military commander who played a decisive role in the 1453 siege of Constantinople — and who was briefly the father-in-law of Mehmed II before a political falling-out led to his exile and subsequent rehabilitation. The mosque survives as one of the older Ottoman foundations in western Anatolia.
This piece belongs to Turkey's long-running series celebrating historic mosques, issued annually by Darphane. The series draws on .925 silver at one troy ounce, a specification chosen to align with the international bullion coin market rather than any domestic monetary function.
