Orhan Gazi ruled the Ottoman beylik from roughly 1323 until his death around 1362, overseeing the crossing into Europe at Gallipoli in 1354 — the first permanent Ottoman foothold on the continent. The Darphane has issued a recurring series of sultans and early bey rulers in this format, part of a broader program begun in the 2010s tying modern Turkish national identity to Ottoman dynastic continuity.
