| 正面描述 | Central field depicts a stylized representation of the entrance plaque of Mor Gabriel Monastery, rendered in relief, bearing an arched inscription in Classical Syriac script above the Latin legends 'MOR GABRIEL' and 'DEYRULUMUR MANASTIRI'. Below the plaque, an ornately carved decorative panel with interlaced floral and zoomorphic motifs is shown. The outer legend reads 'TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ' to the left and 'REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE' to the right, separated at the top by a crescent and star device. The denomination '20 Türk Lirası' and the date '2022' appear in the lower exergue, flanked by decorative dots and a mint mark. |

Mor Gabriel, founded in 397 AD, is the oldest functioning Christian monastery in the world and has spent much of the last two decades fighting Turkish government and neighboring village claims on its land in a series of court battles that drew international condemnation. The Turkish Treasury's decision to issue a silver commemorative honoring it arrived while legal disputes over the monastery's property rights were still unresolved in the public memory — a diplomatic gesture that sits awkwardly against that record.
