| 背面描述 | Bust of Sultan Mehmed IV facing slightly right, depicted in a stylized engraved portrait wearing an elaborate Ottoman turban adorned with an aigrette and feathered plume, with a full beard and robes visible at the truncation. A small tulip and bird motif appears to the left of the portrait in the field, referencing Ottoman artistic tradition. The arc legend 'OSMANLI PADİŞAHLARI' curves along the upper border, while the reign dates '1642-1693' and the sultan's name 'IV. MEHMED' are inscribed along the lower rim. |

Mehmed IV ruled the Ottoman Empire from 1648 to 1687, a reign defined less by the sultan himself — enthroned at age six — than by the Köprülü grand viziers who effectively ran the state in his name. The period saw both the high-water mark of Ottoman expansion into central Europe and its decisive reversal at the Battle of Vienna in 1683, after which Mehmed was deposed by his own janissaries.
Turkey's central bank has issued a long-running series of silver commemoratives honoring Ottoman sultans in succession; this piece falls within that program. KM# 1417 places it among the more recent additions to the run.
