| Reverse description | Facing bust portrait of Ottoman Sultan Mahmud I (r. 1730–1754) rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, depicted wearing the tall ceremonial Ottoman kavuk headdress adorned with three egret feathers secured by an aigrette. The Sultan is shown with a full beard and robed in an ornate fur-trimmed imperial kaftan. A stylized tulip motif appears to the left of the portrait in the field, referencing the Tulip Era (Lale Devri) associated with his reign. The upper legend reads 'OSMANLI PADİŞAHLARI' in Latin characters, while the lower portion of the rim bears the dates '1696 - 1754' and the inscription 'I. MAHMUD'. |
