| Reverse description | A robust bust portrait of the Sufi mystic and philosopher Haci Bektaş Veli faces slightly left, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. He is depicted wearing a distinctive tall tapered dervish tac (crown), a traditional Bektashi headpiece, with a full beard and robes rendered in fine frosted detail. The legend HACI BEKTAŞ VELİ arcs along the left border and ÖLÜMÜNÜN 750. YILI along the right border, commemorating the 750th anniversary of his death. The birth and death years 1209–1271 are inscribed in the lower exergue. |

| Additional information |
Haji Bektash Veli was a 13th-century Anatolian mystic whose Bektashi order became inseparably linked to the Janissary corps — the Ottoman sultan's elite infantry. When Mahmud II dissolved and massacred the Janissaries in 1826, the Bektashi order was simultaneously banned, its tekkes shuttered and its leadership exiled. The Turkish Republic later rehabilitated Bektash as a proto-secular, syncretic figure compatible with Kemalist nation-building, which is precisely the ideological work this coin is doing.
