| Obverse description | Central field depicts the ornate stone-carved gateway of Diyarbakır Castle, rendered against a coursed basalt ashlar wall background. A Seljuk double-headed eagle emblem appears in relief at the upper centre, flanked by two sculptural lion figures in profile facing inward, referencing the celebrated relief sculptures of the Artukid period adorning the castle walls. Below the lions, a framed panel contains a multi-line Arabic inscription in Seljuk calligraphic script, reproducing a historic dedicatory or foundation text associated with the castle. The date 2021 and the Turkish State Mint mark appear in the lower field. The encircling legend reads TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ to the left and REPUBLIC OF TURKEY to the right, with the denomination 20 Türk Lirası inscribed along the lower border, all separated by a crescent-and-star device at the top. |
