| Obverse description | The obverse features a large crescent moon motif overlaid on a detailed skyline of contemporary Istanbul buildings rendered in the lower field, juxtaposed with ruins of a historic stone tower to the left, evoking the passage of time from 1915 to 2015. At the centre of the crescent, set against a mirror-polished field, appears a multi-line quotation in Turkish attributed to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, surmounted by his facsimile signature. The Turkish star-and-crescent emblem appears at the top of the border. The bilingual peripheral legend reads 'TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ' to the left and 'REPUBLIC OF TURKEY' to the right, with the denomination '20 Türk Lirası' inscribed along the lower rim.
