Ahmad Yasawi was a 12th-century Turkic Sufi poet and mystic whose mausoleum in Turkestan — now southern Kazakhstan — was commissioned by Timur in the 1390s as one of the largest funerary structures in Central Asia. Turkey's sustained interest in commemorating him reflects the broader Turkic cultural diplomacy that intensified after Soviet collapse opened Central Asia to outside engagement. This coin is part of a Turkish Mint series honoring figures central to Turkic and Islamic heritage across a geography well beyond Turkey's own borders.
