Honduras reorganized its central banking structure in the early 1970s following sustained pressure on the lempira from regional trade imbalances and the economic disruption of the 1969 Football War with El Salvador. The P#60 series was issued into that recovery period. De La Rue's London facility handled the printing throughout, with watermark security being the primary — and notably modest — anti-counterfeiting provision for a denomination of this size.
The series ran across four years, suggesting periodic reprinting rather than a single large print run, though the individual date variants within P#60 are not always clearly distinguished in dealer inventory.
