| Reverse description | A right-facing portrait of King Tomislav, first king of Croatia, occupies the central field in a stylised heraldic manner. To the right of the royal effigy, a crown adorned with three crosses is depicted, beneath which the coronation year '925.' is inscribed. The legend 'KRALJ TOMISLAV' arcs along the upper periphery of the reverse field, identifying the historical figure commemorated. |

Issued to mark the 1,090th anniversary of Tomislav's coronation, which medieval sources place around 925 AD when the Pope recognized him as the first king of a unified Croatian state. The anniversary itself is a somewhat awkward number to commemorate — 1,090 years — suggesting this was less a planned milestone and more an opportunistic bullion issue in a period when Croatian mints were producing a steady stream of small gold commemoratives.
