The Österreichische Klassenlotterie series of lottery bonds occupies an odd corner of Austrian notaphily — they circulate among collectors of both Papiergeld and lottery ephemera, which means they're consistently undervalued in one market and overpriced in the other. This 20 Kronen piece, issued by the 23rd draw series in 1930, is a reminder that Austria's interwar lottery infrastructure survived the currency reforms of the 1920s largely intact, even as the Krone itself had been replaced by the Schilling in 1925.
The face denomination in Kronen on a 1930 issue is the detail worth pausing on.
