| 表面の説明 | At left, an intaglio vignette of a female portrait in three-quarter profile; at upper right, a small coat of arms of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The face bears the bank title and denomination inscriptions in German as the primary language, with values rendered in eight additional languages of the monarchy beneath, all set against a fine guilloche underprint. |

The Austro-Hungarian Bank's 1913 series was issued under conditions of increasing fiscal strain as the empire expanded military expenditure ahead of the First World War. This particular denomination was printed in substantial quantities and remained in official circulation well past the empire's dissolution in 1918 — the successor states of Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and others all overprinted or stamped existing Austro-Hungarian notes as a provisional measure while establishing their own currencies, and P#13 examples bearing such stamps are common enough to constitute a subspecialty of their own.
Unstamped survivors from purely Austrian circulation before the war are the more interesting find.
