| Beschrijving voorzijde | Uniformed draped bust of Maximilian IV Joseph, Elector of Bavaria, facing right, depicted in military dress with epaulettes visible at the shoulder. The portrait is executed in a neoclassical style with fine engraving detail. The encircling legend reads MAXIMILIAN IOSEPH CHURFÜRST ZU PFALZ BAIERN, running along the beaded border of the coin. The field is smooth and uncluttered, focusing attention on the bold, high-relief effigy. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Maximilian IV Joseph issued this coin during the final, chaotic stretch of the Holy Roman Empire's existence — Napoleon was reshaping German territorial boundaries by fiat, and Bavaria had aligned itself firmly with France. That alignment paid off almost immediately: in December 1805, the Treaty of Pressburg elevated Bavaria to a full kingdom, rendering the electoral title on this very coinage obsolete within months of striking. Coins bearing the Elector's style were abruptly superseded by a new regal series in 1806.
