| Obverse description | Draped bust of Emperor Franz I of Austria facing right, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail characteristic of the Vienna Mint's early nineteenth-century coinage. A ribbon is tied at the neck and falls forward across the chest. The legend FRANCISCVS I D G AVST IMPERATOR encircles the effigy, commencing at approximately 7 o'clock. The mint mark appears in the field beneath the bust. |

The denomination XX KR appears in the exergue below the eagle. The encircling legend, commencing at 1 o'clock, records the emperor's titles as King of Hungary, Bohemia, Lombardy and Venice, Galicia, Lodomeria, and Illyria, with the date 1831 and mint mark incorporated into the reverse field. |
