| Obverse description | Draped bust of Emperor Franz I of Austria facing right, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail characteristic of the Vienna Mint's early nineteenth-century coinage. A ribbon is tied at the neck and falls forward across the chest. The legend FRANCISCVS I D G AVST IMPERATOR encircles the effigy, commencing at approximately 7 o'clock.
