Obverse description Central design features the arms of Nuremberg: a divided shield displaying a crowned black eagle on the dexter half and diagonal barry stripes on the sinister half, set within an ornate cartouche of scrolling acanthus and foliate mantling. The shield is surmounted by a mural or civic crown. The circular legend MONETA REIP. NORIMBERGENSIS. runs along the periphery in Latin characters. The denomination XX and the mint-master initials S·R· appear in the lower field, flanking the base of the cartouche. The fineness indication 1 KEINE FEINE MARCK and the date are distributed around the inner border, attesting to the coin's silver standard under the Konventionsthaler system.
