| Obverse description | Central field features the arms of Bern — a diagonally striped shield bearing a walking bear to sinister — set within a circular beaded border and flanked by laurel branches. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown. The surrounding legend reads MONETA REIPUB BERNENSIS with the date, distributed around the periphery in Latin script. The overall design is executed in the restrained Baroque style typical of Swiss cantonal coinage of the mid-to-late 18th century. |
