| Obverse description | Central field features the Slovak coat of arms — a heraldic shield bearing a patriarchal (double-barred) cross rising from a triple-peaked mountain base — flanked symmetrically by two crossing branches of linden with heart-shaped leaves and buds. The date 1941 appears above the shield, and the engraver's initials FŠ are placed at the bottom of the field. The circular legend SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA arcs along the upper periphery, all enclosed within a continuous beaded border. |

Issued by the Slovak State — the Nazi client republic proclaimed in March 1939 after Hitler pressured Jozef Tiso into declaring independence — this coin appeared during a period when Bratislava was carefully managing its image as a legitimate sovereign issuer. The choice of Cyril and Methodius, the 9th-century Byzantine missionaries who created the Glagolitic script and evangelized Great Moravia, carried obvious political utility: grounding a new and compromised state in pre-medieval Christian heritage.
The .500 fineness reflects wartime silver constraints already biting by 1941.
