| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features the heraldic Bohemian lion rampant at centre, depicted with a double tail, crowned, and facing right in high relief against a smooth field. The circular legend ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA is inscribed along the upper periphery, with the date 2018 appearing in the lower field flanked by two dots. The mint mark of the Czech Mint (b) is positioned at the base of the design beneath the lion. The bold, stylised rendering of the lion is consistent with the standard Czech Republic coinage type. |

Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of Beneš's death, this commemorative circulating coin sits in the long shadow of a deeply contested political figure. Beneš served as Czechoslovak president twice — before the Nazi occupation and again after — but is remembered as much for the 1945–46 Beneš decrees, which authorized the expulsion of roughly three million Sudeten Germans, as for his wartime leadership from London. The decrees remain legally unrepealed and periodically resurface in Czech-German and Czech-EU diplomatic friction.
