| Obverse description | Draped bust of Catherine II facing right, crowned with an imperial diadem adorned with a cross finial, her hair elaborately dressed. The effigy is rendered in a classical portrait style typical of late 18th-century Russian coinage. A Cyrillic legend encircles the bust, abbreviated to read 'By God's Grace, Ekaterina II, Empress and Autocrat of All Russia.' The mint mark СПБ appears in the lower exergue beneath the portrait. |
