Papua New Guinea introduced polymer banknotes relatively early by Pacific standards, but this 2021 issue sits within a long-running series rather than marking any fresh departure. Note Printing Australia has been the primary printer for PNG's polymer issues for decades — a natural fit given geographic proximity and NPA's role in developing polymer substrate technology alongside the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Pick 53 is a replacement and standard circulation type in the same series lineage that dates back to the kina's polymer transition. Nothing anomalous is known about this printing run.
