Issued to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Ukraine's independence declaration on 24 August 1991, this commemorative note was produced entirely domestically — the Banknote Printing and Minting Works in Kyiv has handled Ukrainian currency production since the facility was established in the 1990s specifically to reduce dependence on foreign printers. That self-sufficiency is itself a pointed detail for an anniversary issue.
Pick W129 circulates as legal tender rather than functioning purely as a collector piece, distinguishing it from many commemorative issues of this type.
