| Reverse description | The reverse presents a richly detailed multi-layered composition commemorating Yaroslav the Wise's accession to the throne in 1019. A central medallion in high relief depicts Yaroslav the Wise seated on a throne holding a sword, receiving envoys or counselors in a scene reminiscent of medieval chronicle illuminations, flanked by courtiers and attendants rendered in lower relief to either side. The background of the entire field is densely engraved with lines of Old Church Slavonic manuscript text, evoking the pages of a medieval chronicle or legal codex. The Cyrillic legend 'ЯРОСЛАВ МУДРИЙ НА ПРЕСТОЛІ' curves along the upper rim of the coin, and the date '1019' appears in bold numerals at the lower central field, partially overlaid on the manuscript text background. |
