Austrian Notgeld at the smallest scale of civic issue. Weitersfelden is a rural market commune in Upper Austria — the kind of municipality that turned to emergency local currency in 1920 not out of institutional ambition but out of sheer necessity, as the postwar coin shortage left small transactions impossible to complete with official money. The Marktkommune had the legal standing to issue but virtually no printing infrastructure, which is why most rural Austrian Notgeld of this period was produced by regional printers working from standardized templates with locally inserted text.
The JPR1165 series is among the less-documented Upper Austrian issues. Surviving examples are rarely encountered in dealer stock.
