Beschrijving voorzijde Green and pink Notgeld voucher (Gutschein) on a wave-pattern guilloche ground. The denomination numeral '20' appears in decorative cartouches at upper left and upper right, flanking the central title 'GUTSCHEIN' in bold letterpress. A central intaglio-style vignette presents a panoramic view of Weitenegg castle ruins and the riverside townscape set against a wooded hillside. Flanking inscriptions read 'Zwanzig' at left and 'Heller' at right, with the validity notice 'Nur gültig bis 31. Dezember 1920' and the issue date 'WEITENEGG A/b. 1. Beschrijving keerzijde Green letterpress on a cream wave-pattern guilloche ground, with a uniform decorative border of dot and rule ornaments. The heading 'GUTSCHEIN DER MARKTGEMEINDE WEITENEGG A/D' is set in bold capitals across the upper field, above a central panel bearing the denomination '20 HELLER 20' within an ornate scrollwork cartouche. Below, a block of smaller text in German sets out the legal basis of the issue, stating that the Marktgemeinde Weitenegg issued vouchers totalling up to 50,000 Kronen by council resolution of 1 April 1920, redeemable in lawful currency between 1 and 31 December 1920, with a warning that counterfeiting will be prosecuted.

Opmerkingen

Weitenegg is a small market town on the Danube in Lower Austria, and this note is a product of the acute small-change shortage that paralyzed Austrian commerce in the years immediately following the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy. The new Republic of Austria lacked the coin stock to meet everyday transaction needs, and hundreds of municipalities — many of them tiny — were legally permitted to issue their own Notgeld to fill the gap. Weitenegg's series is among the more obscure of these local emissions, with survival rates reflecting genuine rather than philatelic circulation.

Both signatories signed in their official municipal capacities, Sollner as Bürgermeister and Gruber as his deputy.
