| 裏面の説明 | The reverse, also printed in red on cream paper, bears a wave-pattern guilloche underprint with large '20' numerals at each lateral margin. At centre top, the heading 'Gutschein der Gemeinde Wartberg ob.d.Aist' appears in Gothic script above the denomination 'Zwanzig Heller' flanking a circular seal inscribed 'ÜBER / 20 / HELLER'. Below is a framed landscape vignette captioned 'WENZELSKIRCHE', showing a rural church amid trees and rolling terrain. A two-line text at the foot states the municipality's total issuance of Gutscheine up to 30,000 Kronen, with the resolution reference 'GRB. 29/IV. 1920'. |

Wartberg ob der Aist is a small market town in Upper Austria, and this 20 Heller note is one of the thousands of Notgeld issues that flooded Austria between 1919 and 1922 when small coin essentially vanished from circulation. The postwar metal shortage was severe enough that even minor rural municipalities were authorized to print their own emergency fractional currency — and did so in enormous variety.
The Jaksc catalog reference places this among the rarer municipal issues; Wartberg's series is not commonly encountered, suggesting limited original print runs or high attrition in a community too small to have generated significant collector demand at the time.
