Comments

Austrian Notgeld from the Wachau valley, issued by the market town of Spitz an der Donau during the severe coin shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg Empire. The hyphenated designation "Ranna-Mühldorf" indicates this note was valid across both Ranna and Mühldorf — neighboring settlements administratively linked to the Spitz municipality — a common arrangement in rural Austrian emergency issues where a single printing served multiple small communities.

Rudolf Weber was a local designer, and Spitz produced several Notgeld variants through 1920, distinguishing issues by color rather than separate printings. The red designation here separates this from otherwise identical blue or green siblings in the series.
