| 备注 |
One of hundreds of Austrian Notgeld issues that flooded the market between 1919 and 1922, this Wachau series piece from Spitz an der Donau belongs to a deliberately collectible run rather than a purely emergency currency. By 1920, many Austrian municipalities had learned that well-designed Notgeld sold to collectors at face value — pure profit, with no redemption ever demanded. Spitz understood its position in the scenic Wachau valley and marketed accordingly.
Aggstein refers to the ruined medieval castle above the Danube, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the region. The Jaksc catalogue remains the primary reference for Wachau Notgeld specifically, supplementing the broader Pick numbering.
