Stadtgemeinde Vöcklabruck
Vöcklabruck, 17. März 1920
Der Bürgermeister:
HELLER
背面描述 Printed in dark grey-green and black on a lighter ground, the reverse is centred on a large oval vignette by F. Hahn presenting a panoramic townscape of Vöcklabruck against a mountain backdrop, enclosed within an ornate interlaced border with the numeral "20" repeated in white relief at each corner. A text cartouche above the vignette cites the legal authority for issuance, while a cartouche below sets out the redemption and validity conditions together with the counterfeiting warning "Nachahmung wird gesetzlich bestraft," with the printer's imprint "E. Prietzel, Steyr" at the lower right margin.

备注

Vöcklabruck is a small market town in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it issued its own small-denomination Notgeld during the postwar currency chaos of 1919–1921. The Austrian state simply could not produce enough low-value coinage to meet everyday demand — metal had gone to the war effort, and the successor state was economically hollowed out. Local authorities stepped into that gap, issuing paper in denominations too small for the central bank to bother with.

E. Prietzel in Steyr handled a number of regional Notgeld commissions across Upper Austria during this period. F. Hahn's designer credit is relatively uncommon for issues at this denomination level — most Heller notes of this type were produced from stock designs with no individual attribution.
