Beschrijving keerzijde Green letterpress vignette on cream paper, printed by L. Haase, Linz, as noted in the lower right margin. A panoramic rural scene occupies the central field, with a view of the village of Ungenach — its church spire and clustered farmsteads set against rolling hills and a clouded sky. In the foreground, a cow rests at left while a female figure in traditional Upper Austrian peasant dress stands at right, looking toward the village. The denomination "20 Heller" appears in ornamental cartouches at upper left and upper right, flanking the scroll inscription "Gutschein Ungenach".

Opmerkingen

Ungenach is a small rural commune in Upper Austria, and this 20 Heller note is exactly the kind of hyperlocal emergency currency that proliferated across Austria between 1919 and 1921 when the post-imperial monetary system collapsed and coin simply vanished from circulation. Municipalities issued their own Notgeld not as a political statement but out of sheer necessity — there was nothing else to make change with.

L. Haase in Linz handled a considerable volume of Upper Austrian municipal commissions during this period, which kept production costs low enough for even the smallest Gemeinden to participate. Ungenach's population at the time was well under a thousand.
