Beschrijving voorzijde Printed in green on cream paper, the obverse centres on a vignette of the Traunkirchen Abbey church with its distinctive onion-domed towers set against a mountain backdrop, flanked on either side by large numeral '20' denominators within decorative Art Nouveau foliate borders. The denomination legend 'ZWANZIG HELLER' runs along the top in bold gothic lettering, with the issuer inscription 'NOTGELD DER GEMEINDE TRAUNKIRCHEN' occupying the lower portion. A small monogram 'ETA' appears within the vignette, attributing the artwork to the designer.

Opmerkingen

Traunkirchen is a lakeside parish of a few hundred residents on the Traunsee, and its decision to issue notgeld in 1920 was driven by the same acute small-coin shortage that pushed hundreds of Austrian municipalities into emergency paper during the post-war years. The Salzkammergut-Druckerei in Gmunden was the logical choice — a regional press serving the surrounding communities, responsible for several local notgeld issues across the Salzkammergut district.

The 20 Heller denomination was among the most practically necessary: small enough to substitute for coins that had simply vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted as the old imperial monetary order collapsed after 1918.
